Dominant groups
Analysis of the family blending in the RDA Northern Territory in 2021 compared to Litchfield Council LGA shows that there was a lower proportion of step families as well as a lower proportion of blended families. Overall, 12.8% of total couple families with children were step families, and 4.8% were blended families, compared with 15.0% and 5.4% respectively for Litchfield Council LGA.
There were a higher proportion of other families and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 1.3% compared to 0.6% in Litchfield Council LGA while the proportion of intact families was 81.2% compared to 79.0% in Litchfield Council LGA.
