Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Mount Gambier in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,057 people or 16.6%)
- Retail Trade (1,559 people or 12.6%)
- Manufacturing (1,179 people or 9.5%)
In combination, these three industries employed 4,795 people in total or 38.8% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Limestone Coast region employed 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.2% in Retail Trade; and 11.1% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Mount Gambier and Limestone Coast region were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (16.6% compared to 12.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (12.6% compared to 10.2%)
