Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hamilton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (555 people or 21.4%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (281 people or 10.8%)
  • Education and Training (274 people or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,110 people in total or 42.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Newcastle employed 20.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.3% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 10.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Hamilton and the City of Newcastle were:
