Dominant groups

Analysis of the service age groups of Liverpool in 2021 compared to Green Valley shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 22.1% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 17.6% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 24.1% and 19.6% respectively for Green Valley.

The major differences between the age structure of Liverpool and Green Valley were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (19.7% compared to 12.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Older workers & pre-retirees' (10.4% compared to 14.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (8.8% compared to 12.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Secondary schoolers' (5.9% compared to 8.9%)

  • Young workforce (25 to 34) (+2,572 people)
  • Older workers and pre-retirees (50 to 59) (+1,620 people)
  • Seniors (70 to 84) (+1,406 people)
