Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Green Valley in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (593 people or 12.6%)
  • Retail Trade (581 people or 12.3%)
  • Manufacturing (505 people or 10.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,679 people in total or 35.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Heckenberg employed 14.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.7% in Retail Trade; and 10.8% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Green Valley and Heckenberg were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (5.0% compared to 1.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (4.4% compared to 2.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (7.9% compared to 9.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (7.9% compared to 9.7%)

The number of employed people in Green Valley decreased by 517 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Green Valley were for those employed in:

  • Construction (-184 persons)
  • Manufacturing (-115 persons)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+77 persons)
  • Other Services (-66 persons)
