Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of Liverpool LGA in 2021 compared to Miller shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 21.3% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 23.1% and 14.3% respectively for Miller.

The major differences between the female age structure of Liverpool LGA and Miller were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 35 to 39 (7.8% compared to 5.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 40 to 44 (7.0% compared to 5.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females aged 60 to 64 (5.0% compared to 6.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females aged 80 to 84 (1.5% compared to 2.9%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Liverpool LGA's female population increased by 14,367 people (13.9%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.65% per year over the period.

The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 35 to 39 (+1,499 females)
  • 60 to 64 (+1,291 females)
  • 10 to 14 (+1,183 females)
  • 30 to 34 (+957 females)
