Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Liverpool in 2021 compared to Hinchinbrook shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 19.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 20.2% and 11.4% respectively for Hinchinbrook.
The major differences between the age structure of Liverpool and Hinchinbrook were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (10.0% compared to 5.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (9.9% compared to 7.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (5.0% compared to 7.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 55 to 59 (5.0% compared to 7.5%)
Emerging groups
From 2011 to 2021, Liverpool's population increased by 7,075 people (29.5%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.62% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 30 to 34 (+948 persons)
- 25 to 29 (+881 persons)
- 35 to 39 (+832 persons)
- 20 to 24 (+570 persons)
