Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in St George Region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (17,556 people or 14.0%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (12,544 people or 10.0%)
  • Retail Trade (12,144 people or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 42,244 people in total or 33.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Georges River Council area employed 15.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.0% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.8% in Retail Trade.

There were no major differences between St George Region and Georges River Council area in 2021.
