Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Georges River Council in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Retail Trade (6,365 people or 9.3%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (5,665 people or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 18,945 people in total or 27.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 10.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.8% in Retail Trade; and 9.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Georges River Council and Greater Sydney were:
