Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Kogarah in 2021 compared to Penshurst shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 28.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 7.5% were one-parent families, compared with 32.9% and 10.4% respectively for Penshurst.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 25.3% compared to 24.3% in Penshurst while the proportion of couples without children was 25.0% compared to 22.7% in Penshurst.
