Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in RDA Northern Territory in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public Administration and Safety (10,370 males or 19.0%)
  • Construction (7,093 males or 13.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (4,412 males or 8.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 21,875 males in total or 40.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Darwin employed 19.0% in Public Administration and Safety; 14.2% in Construction; and 6.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the RDA Northern Territory and Greater Darwin were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2.9% compared to 1.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (8.1% compared to 6.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (13.0% compared to 14.2%)
