Dominant groups
In 2021, there were 14 males who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in Wonthaggi District and Surrounds, compared with 2,656 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).
Analysis of the method of travel to work of the male residents in Wonthaggi District and Surrounds in 2021, compared to Newhaven - Cape Woolamai, shows that 0.4% used public transport, while 69.9% used a private vehicle, compared with 0.0% and 66.5% respectively in Newhaven - Cape Woolamai.
The major differences in males between the method of travel to work of Wonthaggi District and Surrounds and Newhaven - Cape Woolamai were:
- A larger percentage of males who travelled by car (as driver) (65.7% compared to 63.1%)
- A larger percentage of males who did not go to work (9.8% compared to 8.7%)
