Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Bass Coast Shire in 2011 compared to Regional VIC shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 21.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.7% were one-parent families, compared with 26.9% and 10.5% respectively for Regional VIC.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 28.7% compared to 26.8% in Regional VIC while the proportion of couples without children was 29.1% compared to 27.8% in Regional VIC.
