Dominant groups
Analysis of the service age groups of Central Australia in 2021 compared to Litchfield Council LGA shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 25.2% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 13.4% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 21.7% and 18.1% respectively for Litchfield Council LGA.
The major differences between the age structure of Central Australia and Litchfield Council LGA were:
- A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (19.0% compared to 13.4%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Older workers & pre-retirees' (12.1% compared to 15.8%)
