Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types in the RDA Northern Territory in 2021 compared to Katherine Town Council LGA shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 27.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.3% were one-parent families, compared with 22.3% and 8.2% respectively for Katherine Town Council LGA.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 19.7% compared to 17.1% in Katherine Town Council LGA while the proportion of couples without children was 20.2% compared to 19.8% in Katherine Town Council LGA.
