Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types in Central Australia in 2021 compared to Alice Springs Town Council LGA shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 24.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.4% were one-parent families, compared with 25.3% and 10.5% respectively for Alice Springs Town Council LGA.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 22.3% compared to 23.2% in Alice Springs Town Council LGA while the proportion of couples without children was 18.1% compared to 20.3% in Alice Springs Town Council LGA.
