Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the RDA Northern Territory compared to Central Australia shows that there was a similar proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 3.7% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 3.6% for Central Australia.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Wider Darwin and Central Australia were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (3.9% compared to 2.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (11.7% compared to 17.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (17.0% compared to 19.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (7.4% compared to 9.6%)
