Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in City of Darwin LGA in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (20,247 people or 25.1%)
- Australian (19,447 people or 24.1%)
- Irish (6,989 people or 8.7%)
- Australian Aboriginal (6,377 people or 7.9%)
- Scottish (5,716 people or 7.1%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 58,776 responses in total, or 72.98% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in the City of Darwin LGA and Litchfield Council LGA were:
