There were more male technicians and trades workers in Limestone Coast region in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Limestone Coast region in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (3,682 males or 22.2%)
  • Managers (3,605 males or 21.8%)
  • Labourers (3,253 males or 19.6%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 10,540 males in total or 63.6% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Mount Gambier employed 24.0% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 12.2% in Managers; and 16.2% in Labourers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Limestone Coast region and the City of Mount Gambier were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Managers (21.8% compared to 12.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed as Labourers (19.6% compared to 16.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (14.3% compared to 17.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (4.4% compared to 7.0%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Limestone Coast region increased by 120 between 2011 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2011 and 2021 in Limestone Coast region were for those employed as:

  • Managers (-264 males)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+235 males)
  • Labourers (+216 males)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (-70 males)
