Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Newcastle in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (10,615 males or 24.7%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (8,607 males or 20.0%)
- Managers (5,751 males or 13.4%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 24,973 males in total or 58.2% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Tighes Hill employed 29.6% in Professionals; 18.1% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 13.8% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Newcastle and Tighes Hill were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (8.9% compared to 6.1%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (20.0% compared to 18.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Professionals (24.7% compared to 29.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (8.7% compared to 10.5%)

The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Newcastle were for those employed as:
