Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Georgetown in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (79 males or 13.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (60 males or 10.5%)
  • Manufacturing (53 males or 9.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 192 males in total or 33.5% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Hunter Region SA4 employed 15.9% in Construction; 7.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.5% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Georgetown and Hunter Region SA4 were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (10.5% compared to 7.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in education and training (7.3% compared to 4.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.7% compared to 5.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in mining (4.2% compared to 8.0%)
