Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Maryland in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 36.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 14.3% were one-parent families, compared with 24.8% and 10.9% respectively for Regional NSW.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 17.4% compared to 26.1% in Regional NSW while the proportion of couples without children was 25.7% compared to 27.7% in Regional NSW.

The number of households in Maryland increased by 1,704 between 1991 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in Maryland between 1991 and 2021 were:
