Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Hillarys in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (491 males or 16.4%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (356 males or 11.9%)
  • Mining (302 males or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,149 males in total or 38.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Mullaloo employed 24.0% in Construction; 7.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.0% in Mining.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Hillarys and Mullaloo were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.9% compared to 7.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (4.5% compared to 2.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (5.9% compared to 4.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (16.4% compared to 24.0%)

The number of employed males in Hillarys increased by 97 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Hillarys were for those employed in:

  • Mining (+75 males)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+51 males)
