North-Central Ward is bounded by Shenton Avenue, Marmion Avenue, Hodges Drive, the Mitchell Freeway, Eddystone Avenue, Joondalup Drive, Lakeside Drive and the suburb of Joondalup in the north, Lake Joondalup and the City of Wanneroo in the east, Ocean Reef Road, Marmion Avenue, Kallaroo Place and Mullaloo Drive in the south and the Indian Ocean in the west.

Settlement history

Development of the area dates primarily from the 1950s. Rapid growth took place during the 1970s and 1980s, with growth slowing during the early 1990s. The population has declined slightly since the mid 1990s, a result of little change in dwelling stock and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.

Land use

North-Central Ward is an established residential area, with substantial parklands and some industrial and commercial areas.

Major features of the Ward include Yellagonga Regional Park, Lake Joondalup, Beaumaris City Shopping Centre, Ocean Reef Shopping Centre, Mullaloo Plaza, Heathridge Village Shopping Centre, Joondalup Gate (home and lifestyle precinct), Heathridge Leisure Centre, Ocean Reef Boat Harbour, Mullaloo Beach, Ocean Reef Foreshore Reserve and numerous schools.
