Warwick is thought to be named after a road in London.

Settlement history

Development of the area dates from 1950, although population was minimal until the late 1960s. Rapid growth took place during the 1970s. The population declined between 1991 and 2006, and then was relatively stable between 2006 and 2011, largely due to stability in dwelling stock.

Land use

Warwick is an established residential area, with substantial parkland in the east.

Major features of the area include Warwick Open Space, Centro Warwick Shopping Centre, Warwick Leisure Centre, Warwick Community Centre, Chelsford Reserve, Ellersdale Park, Hawker Park, the Warwick Interchange and two schools.
