Burns Beach is named after an early farmer in the area. It was originally known as Burns.

Settlement history

Development of the area dates primarily from the late 1990s. Rapid growth took place between 2006 and 2011 as large numbers of new dwellings were added to the area. The population is expected to continue to increase, largely from the Burns Beach estate.
