Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Sorrento in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (384 females or 20.4%)
  • Education and Training (338 females or 18.0%)
  • Retail Trade (179 females or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 901 females in total or 47.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Western Australia employed 22.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.8% in Education and Training; and 10.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Sorrento and Western Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (18.0% compared to 13.8%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.7% compared to 6.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (4.3% compared to 2.5%)
