Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in South Ward in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,221 males or 17.6%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (834 males or 12.0%)
  • Mining (689 males or 9.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,744 males in total or 39.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Edgewater employed 19.5% in Construction; 9.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.3% in Mining.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of South Ward and Edgewater were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (12.0% compared to 9.1%)
