Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the Established District in 2021 compared to Spring Farm shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 46.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 12.6% were one-parent families, compared with 47.6% and 12.8% respectively for Spring Farm.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 14.5% compared to 11.5% in Spring Farm while the proportion of couples without children was 22.2% compared to 24.0% in Spring Farm.

Emerging groups

The number of households in Established District increased by 18,361 between 1991 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in the Established District between 1991 and 2021 were:

  • Couples with children (+8,306 households)
