Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Greater Perth in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (118,436 females or 23.3%)
  • Education and Training (69,198 females or 13.6%)
  • Retail Trade (54,633 females or 10.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 242,267 females in total or 47.6% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Hobart employed 25.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 14.5% in Education and Training; and 10.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Greater Perth and Greater Hobart were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in mining (3.1% compared to 0.1%)
