Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in CAD West in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Accommodation and Food Services (221 males or 21.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (132 males or 13.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (85 males or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 438 males in total or 43.0% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Adelaide employed 13.4% in Accommodation and Food Services; 16.0% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 10.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of CAD West and the City of Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (21.7% compared to 13.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (13.0% compared to 16.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in public administration and safety (5.0% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (8.3% compared to 10.4%)

The number of employed males in CAD West increased by 746 between 2006 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2006 and 2021 in CAD West were for those employed in:

  • Accommodation and Food Services (+169 males)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+103 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+76 males)
  • Retail Trade (+67 males)
