Analysis of the household/family types in City South in 2021 compared to South West Overlay shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 6.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 4.4% were one-parent families, compared with 7.4% and 4.5% respectively for South West Overlay.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 40.1% compared to 42.1% in South West Overlay while the proportion of couples without children was 27.6% compared to 23.8% in South West Overlay.
