Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of the City of Adelaide in 2021 compared to South West Corner shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 6.1% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 14.7% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 9.8% and 9.0% respectively for South West Corner.
The major differences between the male age structure of the City of Adelaide and South West Corner were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 20 to 24 (16.0% compared to 9.5%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 75 to 79 (2.8% compared to 0.8%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 55 to 59 (5.3% compared to 8.3%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (7.9% compared to 9.8%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, City of Adelaide's male population increased by 465 people (3.2%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.64% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
