Outer Eastern region's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.
When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Outer Eastern region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Mining (172 males or 16.9%)
- Construction (165 males or 16.2%)
- Manufacturing (83 males or 8.1%)
In combination, these three industries employed 420 males in total or 41.2% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, EMRC area employed 10.3% in Mining; 14.2% in Construction; and 8.0% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Outer Eastern region and EMRC area were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in mining (16.9% compared to 10.3%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in construction (16.2% compared to 14.2%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (2.4% compared to 4.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (6.5% compared to 8.6%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed males in Outer Eastern region increased by 66 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest change in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Outer Eastern region was for those employed in:
- Mining (+68 males)
