Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Melton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (8,118 females or 21.5%)
  • Retail Trade (4,841 females or 12.8%)
  • Education and Training (4,731 females or 12.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 17,690 females in total or 46.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 21.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Retail Trade; and 13.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Melton and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.2% compared to 2.4%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (12.8% compared to 10.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.0% compared to 8.8%)
