Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with some growth in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Significant development did not occur until the late 1970s. Rapid growth took place during the 1980s. The population continued to increase substantially from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area. Growth is expected to continue.
Kurunjang is a recent and developing residential area, with low density residential areas in the east, and rural areas in the north.
Major features of the area include Centenary Park, Kurunjang Recreation Reserve, Little Blind Creek Reserve and several schools.
