Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Gunnedah Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Mining (694 males or 22.5%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (536 males or 17.4%)
  • Construction (290 males or 9.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,520 males in total or 49.2% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional NSW employed 4.2% in Mining; 7.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 16.1% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Gunnedah Shire and Regional NSW were:
