Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Gunnedah Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (563 females or 20.3%)
  • Education and Training (451 females or 16.2%)
  • Retail Trade (321 females or 11.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,335 females in total or 48.0% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Regional NSW employed 26.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.9% in Education and Training; and 11.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Gunnedah Shire and Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (8.0% compared to 3.1%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in mining (4.9% compared to 0.6%)
