Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Western Sydney (LGA) in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (118,699 males or 20.5%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (109,741 males or 18.9%)
  • Managers (82,851 males or 14.3%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 311,291 males in total or 53.7% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 26.5% in Professionals; 16.8% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 17.5% in Managers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Western Sydney (LGA) and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (13.9% compared to 9.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (18.9% compared to 16.8%)
