Analysis of the car ownership of the households with recent arrivals in the City of Burnside in 2011 compared to Greater Sydney shows that 89.6% of recent arrivals were in households who owned at least one car, while 8.6% did not, compared with 85.5% and 11.7% respectively in Adelaide SD.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion who owned just one car; a smaller proportion who owned two cars; and a smaller proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 52.0% of recent arrivals were in households who owned one car; 30.6% owned two cars; and 7.0% owned three cars or more, compared with 41.0%; 33.8% and 10.7% respectively for Adelaide SD.
