In Regional VIC, 40.7% of males aged over 15 years had completed Year 12 schooling (or equivalent) as of 2021. This was greater than Regional TAS.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the highest level of schooling attained by the male population in Regional VIC in 2021 compared to Regional TAS shows that there was a lower proportion of males who had left school at an early level (Year 10 or less) and a higher proportion of males who completed Year 12 or equivalent.

Overall, 35.3% of the male population left school at Year 10 or below, and 40.7% went on to complete Year 12 or equivalent, compared with 48.3% and 35.7% respectively for Regional TAS.

The major differences between the level of schooling attained by the male population in Regional VIC and Regional TAS were:

  • A larger percentage of males who completed year 11 or equivalent (16.2% compared to 8.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males who completed year 12 or equivalent (40.7% compared to 35.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males who completed year 8 or below (5.7% compared to 4.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males who completed year 10 or equivalent (20.3% compared to 34.3%)

The largest changes in the level of schooling attained by the male population in Regional VIC, between 2006 and 2021 were:
