Dominant groups
Analysis of the qualifications of the population in Regional WA in 2021 compared to Regional QLD shows that there was a lower proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.
Overall, 45.9% of the population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 40.5% had no qualifications, compared with 50.3% and 39.2% respectively for Regional QLD.
The major differences between qualifications held by the population of Regional WA and Regional QLD were:
- A larger percentage of persons with No qualifications (40.5% compared to 39.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons with Bachelor or Higher degrees (13.5% compared to 17.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (7.6% compared to 9.1%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the qualifications of the population in Regional WA between 2006 and 2021 were in those with:
- Vocational qualifications (+40,560 persons)
- Bachelor or Higher degrees (+27,690 persons)
- Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+13,101 persons)
- No qualifications (-2,400 persons)
