Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Greater Hobart in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (12,937 males or 21.7%)
  • Professionals (11,935 males or 20.0%)
  • Managers (8,701 males or 14.6%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 33,573 males in total or 56.2% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 20.7% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 19.9% in Professionals; and 14.3% in Managers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Greater Hobart and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (9.0% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (8.0% compared to 9.8%)
