Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Waikiki in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (751 people or 13.4%)
- Construction (596 people or 10.6%)
- Retail Trade (584 people or 10.4%)
In combination, these three industries employed 1,931 people in total or 34.5% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, the City of Rockingham employed 12.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.3% in Construction; and 9.6% in Retail Trade.
There were no major differences between Waikiki and City of Rockingham in 2021.
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Waikiki increased by 190 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Waikiki were for those employed in:
- Mining (+115 persons)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+107 persons)
