Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Rockingham in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (7,963 people or 12.6%)
  • Construction (6,482 people or 10.3%)
  • Retail Trade (6,065 people or 9.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 20,510 people in total or 32.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 14.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.9% in Construction; and 8.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Rockingham and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (8.9% compared to 6.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (7.5% compared to 5.3%)
