Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Epping in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,397 people or 16.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,024 people or 14.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (1,448 people or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,869 people in total or 40.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Parramatta employed 12.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 14.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 7.8% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Epping and the City of Parramatta were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (16.6% compared to 12.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (10.0% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (4.4% compared to 6.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (3.1% compared to 4.5%)

  • Financial and Insurance Services (+525 persons)
  • Education and Training (+206 persons)
