Dominant groups

Analysis of the female service age groups of Clayton in 2021 compared to Wheelers Hill shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 10.2% of the female population was aged between 0 and 17, and 15.8% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 17.3% and 36.9% respectively for Wheelers Hill.

The major differences between the female age structure of Clayton and Wheelers Hill were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (26.7% compared to 6.7%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (26.7% compared to 7.8%)
