There were more female professionals in the City of Monash in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Monash in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (14,712 females or 33.9%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (8,088 females or 18.6%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (5,904 females or 13.6%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 28,704 females in total or 66.1% of the employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 30.4% in Professionals; 19.1% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 15.4% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Monash and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (33.9% compared to 30.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (13.6% compared to 15.4%)

The number of employed females in City of Monash increased by 5,782 between 2016 and 2021.
