Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of the City of Monash in 2021 compared to Oakleigh shows that there was a higher proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 16.2% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 16.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.3% and 14.0% respectively for Oakleigh.

The major differences between the male age structure of the City of Monash and Oakleigh were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 15 to 19 (6.0% compared to 4.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 10 to 14 (5.9% compared to 4.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 80 to 84 (2.6% compared to 1.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (7.3% compared to 8.3%)
