Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of Chadstone in 2021 compared to Mount Waverley shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 15.6% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.6% and 16.7% respectively for Mount Waverley.
The major differences between the male age structure of Chadstone and Mount Waverley were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (12.3% compared to 7.1%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (11.2% compared to 6.2%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (9.5% compared to 6.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 15 to 19 (4.3% compared to 6.8%)
Emerging groups
From 2001 to 2021, Chadstone's male population increased by 1,434 people (43.1%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.81% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 25 to 29 (+260 males)
- 30 to 34 (+234 males)
- 35 to 39 (+196 males)
- 45 to 49 (+95 males)
